There have been many changes in all areas of ESRI Data & Maps 2006. The most significant change is the addition of the 90 meter Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) dataset. This dataset includes the SRTM Global Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with all void areas filled, as well as a shaded relief derived from the DEM. In the U.S., many datasets have been updated to their most current versions. This includes the replacement of all Tele Atlas Census boundary and landmark layers, as well as a few of the National Atlas layers. At the world level, country population values were updated to 2005, and the Political Organizations table was made current as well. For Europe, the AND basemap layers and the demographic/socio-economic thematic data at the NUTS 0, 1, 2 and 3 levels were all updated. In Canada and Mexico, many of the data layers have also been updated. A variety of minor corrections and enhancements were also made to many of the other Data & Maps 2006 datasets.
