Play the animation

Segment 6 of 12

Top  Previous  Next

There are five basic steps to create an animation through time.
They are:
1) Create Keyframes and a Time Track
2) Set the Time Track Properties
3) Set the Keyframe interval and time units
4) Preview and set the Time Text properties
5) Play the animation.

In this segment you'll play the animation.

To play an animation, click the Open Animation Controls button. The animations controls contain play, pause, stop, record, and options buttons. The Options button lets you control how the animation will play. Before you play the animation, you'll set the length of time each frame is displyed (the frame duration).

Click Options. Click By number of frames and click Calculate. This calculates the number of frames necessary to draw all the time slices when playing the animation. Set the Frame duration to 1.0 if it isn’t already set to this value. The animation should play from start to finish in 21 seconds.

If you would like to see the final frame after the animation ends, uncheck the box to Restore state after playing. Otherwise the original state of the data before the animation was played is restored after the animation has played. If you uncheck this, the final time slice and time text will be retained.

Click Options again to hide the play and record options, so they don't obstruct the animation in the display.

Click the Play button.
