Change feature subtypes and edit with a coded value domain

Segment 5 of 14

Top  Previous  Next

The parcels feature class has two subtypes, "residential" and "non-residential." In this map the parcels are rendered using their Zoning_simple attribute rather than their subtype. Each parcel subtype has different default values defined for its Zoning_simple field, so when you change the subtype of a parcel, the Zoning_simple field is updated with the default value.

The Zoning_simple attribute is also associated with a coded value domain in the geodatabase. You can change the value of the Zoning_simple field by picking another of the coded values from the list.
