The installation wizard will ask you to select the AutoCAD release currently installed on your machine. Once installed, ArcGIS for AutoCAD will automatically load when you start AutoCAD.

AutoCAD must be installed prior to installing ArcGIS for AutoCAD. Please review the system requirements before installing the software. Problems will result with AutoCAD platforms not listed.

ArcGIS for AutoCAD requires the following:



AutoCAD LT


ArcGIS for AutoCAD does not support AutoCAD LT.

About ArcGIS Server

Loading the menu and toolbar


If the ArcGIS for AutoCAD menu does not load during your AutoCAD session, you can reload it using the Load/Unload Customizations dialog.

To reload the ArcGIS for AutoCAD menu:



  1. Enter CUILoad at the command line

  2. Click Browse and navigate to your ArcGIS for AutoCAD installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\ArcGIS for AutoCAD).

  3. Select afaUI.cui and click Open

  4. Click the Load button

  5. Click Close.


Uninstalling ArcGIS for AutoCAD


ArcGIS for AutoCAD can be uninstalled using the Windows Add/Remove programs located in the Control Panel.

Unloading the partial CUI



Before uninstalling ArcGIS for AutoCAD it is recommended that you unload the partial CUI using the Load/Unload Customizations dialog. This will prevent AutoCAD from searching for the ArcGIS for AutoCAD partial CUI file when it no longer exists on your computer.

To unload the partial CUI:

  1. Enter CUILoad at the command line
  2. Click ArcGIS listed in the area titled Loaded Customization Groups
  3. Click Unload
  4. Click Close
