Registering ArcGIS Image Server with ArcGIS Server

Release 9.3 E-mail This Topic Printable Version Give Us Feedback

You must register ArcGIS Image Server with ArcGIS Server to serve compiled image service definitions created with the ArcGIS Image Server extension or to allow users to make a direct connection to image services using the ArcGIS Image Server clients. To do this you must first install, license, and set up both applications.

To set up ArcGIS Server, you must run the postinstallation process along with other steps outlined in the Getting started after install section of the ArcGIS Server Help.

To set up ArcGIS Image Server, you must have the server, service provider, and Image Server Manager components installed. Using the Image Server Manager, you will configure the server and service provider. Be sure to add the name or IP address to the Image Server Manager allow list of the computer where ArcGIS Server Manager is located. You can then close the Image Server Manager.

Next you must make an administrative connection to the ArcGIS Server using either ArcGIS Server Manager or ArcCatalog. You can then enter the server name and port for the ArcGIS Image Server.

How to register with ArcGIS Server using ArcGIS Server Manager

  1. Click the GIS Server tab in Manager and click Host Machines.
  2. Click Register ArcGIS Image Server.
  3. Type the server name in the Name text box.
  4. Optionally, edit the port number and click OK.
