Starting ArcIMS Administrator and Service Administrator

expand/collapse item About creating and changing your password

When you open ArcIMS Administrator or Service Administrator, use command line administration, or open ArcIMS Web Manager for the Java Platform, you must provide a user name and password. You set the username and password the first time you open ArcIMS Administrator or Service Administrator. You must set the username and password in either of these two applications before you can use command line administration or login to ArcIMS Web Manager for the Java Platform. (If you are using ArcIMS Web Manager for the Microsoft .NET Framework, you log in using a user account on your machine).

You can change both the user name and password at a later time in Administrator. Although you need a user name and password to access Service Administrator, you cannot change them in this application.

Your password information is stored in a file named AimsAdmPw. If you forget your password, you can delete this file and restart ArcIMS. When you next open Administrator or Service Administrator, you will be prompted for a new user name and password.
