About registering ArcView or ArcEditor and extensions
ArcView or ArcEditor (Single Use) and its extensions do not require the use of a license manager. Instead, after ArcView or ArcEditor (Single Use) and extensions have been installed, you must register the software with ESRI to authorize and enable its use on your computer. A registration wizard is available from the ArcGIS Desktop Administrator to assist you in submitting your registration information to ESRI. Some extensions are also available for evaluation.
Some international users may require the use of a hardware key (dongle) and its hardware key number to register and authorize the use of ArcView or ArcEditor (Single Use).
How to register ArcView or ArcEditor and extensions
- For Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003, click the Start menu, point to Programs, point to ArcGIS, click Desktop Administrator, and access the Registration Wizard. For Windows XP, click the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to ArcGIS, click Desktop Administrator, and access the Registration Wizard.
- Click the Register Single Use and Extensions folder, then click Register Now.
- If you are registering ArcView or ArcEditor for the first time, choose the first registration option, "I have installed ArcView (or ArcEditor) and need to register the software". If you have previously registered ArcView or ArcEditor and need to register additional ArcGIS extensions or want to evaluate ArcGIS extensions, choose the second registration option, "I have already registered ArcView (or ArcEditor) and need to register additional ArcGIS extensions". If you have already registered and received an authorization file from ESRI, choose the third option "I have received an authorization file from ESRI and am now ready to finish the registration process".
- You must use English characters to enter the information requested in the registration wizard.
- For more information, see the ArcView (Single Use) Install Guide or the ArcEditor (Single Use) Install Guide.
