This variation is generally used outside of North America. Mathematically, it is very close to what has usually been referred to as the Lambert Tangential. The degree of scale reduction to reduce and distribute scale distortion is specified by the scale reduction factor.

Parameter Name

Description

ORG_LNG

The longitude, in degrees, of the origin of the projection.

ORG_LAT

The latitude, in degrees, of the origin of the projection.

SCL_RED

Use this parameter to indicate the scale reduction at the origin latitude; that is, the amount of shrinkage of the projection surface into the earth at the origin latitude.

MAP_SCL

Used only when defining a coordinate system that is to produce measurements on a scaled paper map. This value is the scale of the map, e.g., 100,000. Normally, this value is set to 1.0.

X_OFF

The false easting to be applied to all X coordinates, usually selected to cause all X coordinates within the coordinate system to be positive values of reasonable size.

Y_OFF

The false northing to be applied to all Y coordinates.
