This projection type, also known as the Hotine Oblique Mercator, produces rectified Cartesian coordinates. The origin is automatically computed to be that given by the first two parameters. The rectification technique is commonly used in places other than Alaska.

Parameter Name

Description

PARM1

Longitude, in degrees, of the central point of the projection.

PARM2

The latitude, in degrees, of the central point of the projection.

PARM3

The azimuth of the central great circle, in degrees east of north.

SCL_RED

The scale reduction to be applied.

MAP_SCL

Used only when defining a coordinate system that is to produce measurements on a scaled paper map. This value is the scale of the map, e.g., 100,000. Normally, this value is set to 1.0.

X_OFF

The false easting to be applied to all X coordinates, usually selected to cause all X coordinates within the coordinate system to be positive values of reasonable size.

Y_OFF

The false northing to be applied to all Y coordinates.
