Here's just a brief overview of some interface updates to FME Workbench.
For a detailed list of updates, please view the PDF What's Great in 2009.
We have added many more enhancements to the user interface. Here are just a few:
A lot of work has gone into improving the FME Workbench user interface experience. Many of the settings boxes have been retooled and improved, more features support drag-and-drop, and the dialogs are easier to read. We've even added highlights in required fields, to let you know exactly where you need to edit parameters.
Quick Connect: The fastest and easiest way to set single or multiple connections in a workspace. Click the output port, release the mouse button, and then click the input port. It's that easy!
We have completely reconfigured the Tools > Options settings into the new FME Options dialog.
All transformer dialogs now have a new Defaults button. Transformer defaults allow you to override FME defaults for individual transformers and save your own parameters.
If you can't find the information or examples you're looking for, search our fmepedia site for answers.
Transformer help is easier to find – you can now access it directly from the Workbench help menu. This sets the stage for many more upcoming improvements to our transformer help.

From Workbench, you can communicate directly with an FME Server by publishing and downloading workspaces. As an FME Server administrator, you now have many more capabilities at your fingertips for managing your jobs and productivity. You can now:
Access listings of spatial ETL jobs according to their status: completed, scheduled, and in the queue
Cancel queued-up jobs as required
Choose from a wider range of servlet engines and operating systems
Run FME Server engines on any supported operating system, regardless of the operating system you’ve chosen for your FME Server installation.
Set rules that manage which engine is selected to run a specific type or size of spatial ETL task to most effectively manage FME Server’s productivity.

FME Readers and Writers and FME Functions and Factories manuals: We have added many new formats, functions and factories. The detailed reference manuals are included as separate, fully searchable help files. Pick FME Readers and Writers Reference or FME Functions and Factories Reference from the Help menu.
