Use the Format Parameter Defaults manager to change the defaults for frequently used settings in any format. For example, you might want to permanently set a default file, server names and user accounts for databases.
Select Format Parameter Defaults from the Tools > Options menu.
In the Format Parameter Defaults dialog, you can filter the list so that you can see the setting that you want to adjust.
For example, if you want to set a default user ID, server name and password, you might want to search for "username" in the filter field.
Either double-click the selected field, or click the Edit button.
The Settings Box for the format appears. This example shows the input settings for the Geodatbase ArcSDE format.
NOTES:
Some formats have different input and output settings. Refer to the Setting Type column.
For some formats (e.g., database formats) you must enter a username, password, and server name before the defaults will be saved.
Enter the new default settings.
To register the changes, click OK in the Settings Box.
Your changes will appear in the Format Parameter Defaults Manager window.
Click Close to close the window.
Start a new workspace and specify the source or destination format for which you changed defaults.
Click the Settings button to open the Settings box. The new default settings will appear.
You can restore original defaults to all formats. Click the Restore button.
WARNING: Restoring defaults will remove all custom defaults that you have entered.
