Datasets, such as tables, feature classes, and raster datasets, are owned (are stored in the database schema of) the user who creates them. The schema name is incorporated into the name of the dataset in ArcCatalog. Only the owner of a dataset can alter other user’s permissions on that dataset.
There are three types of permission that can be granted on a dataset: None, Read Only, and Read/Write. A user can not have a lower premission on a dataset than the one they have on the overall database.
