Prepare to place unplaced annotation

Maplex

Some of the labels could not be placed on the map because of space constraints. These labels were converted to annotation features in the new feature classes, but they are marked as unplaced and do not appear on the map. Unplaced annotation features are geodatabase features and must be added during an edit session. Now you’ll start editing and get ready to place the unplaced annotation.

There are a few steps to prepare to place the unplaced annotation. First add the Editor and Annotation toolbars. Next start editing. Next choose the target annotation feature class that you're going to add unplaced annotation to. Next open the Unplaced Annotation window.

The Unplaced Annotation window lets you manage the process of placing or deleting the unplaced annotation. You’ll use the Edit Annotation tool on the Annotation toolbar to edit the annotation feature after you place it.
