The Layer Description properties page provides two text input boxes to document the selected layer. Enter descriptive information about the layer in the Layer Description text box and copyright information in the Attribution text box.

The text that you enter in the Attribution text box will cycle, with the attribution text of other layers, at the lower right of the map display:

When you print the map, the layer attribution text for all layers will be stacked at the lower center of the map.
