You can use the Data Access page to set whether to write authentication information for secure services into the map and whether or not to store the location of local data relative to the location of the map file.
To display the Data Access page of the Map Properties dialog, click the ArcGIS Explorer Button 
, then click the Map Properties button and then the Data Access tab.

Authentication
If the map you are working with contains data from secure services that require user identification, checking the Authentication option will save any specified user credentials with the map. If you save the map with user credentials then the next time any user opens the map they’ll be able to view the data using the saved credentials. If a map is opened without credentials (they were not saved with the document) ArcGIS Explorer will prompt anyone opening the map to enter their own credentials before they may view the secure services. Any non-secure services in the same map will display regardless of this setting.

Local Data
When you share maps with other users, you may incorporate local data content. To make it easier to author map files (.nmf) that use local data and share the maps and data with others you can check Store relative path. All paths to local data will be stored in the .nmf relative to the .nmf. The easiest way to do this, is to put all local data used in the map in a single folder on disk. Check Store relative paths and save the NMF or NMC file into the same folder. Then share the entire folder including NMF and local data files with others. The folder could be zipped up and shared or even copied to another location to allow use by others.
