Working for an organization that manages Schematics diagrams, you're faced with the challenge of sharing your collection of schematic information with people inside your organization as well as those outside.
With ArcGIS 9.3, a Schematics desktop resource can not be directly published. The one exception to that rule is that nothing will stop you from building a map document which contains one or more diagrams and publishing this map for a use within an ArcGIS Web Application. However, this way of working has consequences because each time a client consumes the map service, the associated schematic diagrams are opened which causes the diagrams to be immediately loaded into memory. The problem with this is memory consumption. The larger the number of client requests for these resources, the larger the number of diagrams that are loaded in memory and the larger the amount of memory that is being consumed.
This book will focus on a new way of working with Schematics, Geoprocessing and the ArcGIS Web ADF to allow you to share your schematic diagrams across your enterprise and across the web within ArcGIS Server 9.3.
