Displaying server statistics

Release 9.3 E-mail This Topic Printable Version Give Us Feedback

You can use ArcCatalog to display statistics for the GIS server as a whole and for individual services.

How to display statistics for the GIS server

  1. Right-click the name of the GIS server in ArcCatalog and click Server Properties.
  2. Click the Statistics tab.
  3. Use the drop down lists to specify the statistics you want to view:

    • To view statistics for the server as a whole, leave the Service(s) and Host(s) drop down lists at <All>.
    • To view statistics for a single service, use the Service(s) drop-down list to specify the service whose statistics you want to view.
    • To view statistics for one SOC machine, leave the Service(s) drop-down list at <All> and use the Host(s) drop-down list to specify the SOC machine.
  4. Once you've filtered the statistics using the drop-down lists, click Show Statistics.

When you examine the statistics, the number of requests for a service might be higher than you expect. This may be due to the fact that sometimes multiple requests are necessary to complete one action as seen by the end user, such as requesting a map to draw. See Map service log codes for an example of all of the requests necessary to export a map image.
