Opening a new map on a desktop PC

  1. Click Start on the Windows taskbar.
  2. Click All Programs.
  3. Click ArcGIS.
  4. Click ArcPad 8.0 for Windows.

    You will see the ArcPad splash screen briefly and ArcPad will open with the Open map dialog box. By default, ArcPad begins with the Open map dialog box. When it appears, close it.
  5. If you do not wish to see the Open map dialog box again when ArcPad starts, tap the options button on the main toolbar, and go to General tab and uncheck the box 'Show open map dialog box on startup'.

  6. Click OK. A pop up appears confirming that some preferences have changed. Click OK and ArcPad will start without opening this dialog box.
