You can set properties that apply to the currently open map. These properties set the text that describes the map, data access policies, and what coordinate system to use when the map is in 2D and 3D Display mode.

To display the Map Properties dialog, click the ArcGIS Explorer Button , then click the Map Properties button.

Set these options
General
You can set attribution or copyright information as well as provide a description of the map that can be displayed when it is opened with the General page. In addition you can also specify whether to open the map as a presentation directly.

Data Access
You can set whether to write authentication information for secure services into the map and whether or not to store the location of local data relative to the location of the map file with the Data Access page.

2D Coordinate System / 3D Coordinate System
You can set the coordinate system to use to display your map when viewing in 2D Display mode and which geographic transformation to use when projecting layers to the map coordinate system with the 2D Coordinate System page. Use the 3D Coordinate System page to select which geographic transformation to use when projecting layers to the map's coordinate system, which, in the 3D case, is fixed at GCS_WGS_1984.
