expand/collapse item About ArcIMS ports

ArcIMS uses predefined ports to communicate between the ArcIMS Application Server, all connectors, and the ArcIMS Spatial Server. The following diagram shows where each port is placed in relation to the ArcIMS components.

ArcIMS ports

You can change the ArcIMS port numbers, if necessary. Normally, you do not need to change the port numbers unless there is a conflict with another application.

If you are using firewalls between one or more of the ArcIMS components (Web server, Application Server, connectors, Spatial Server, Monitor, and Tasker), you need to open ports in the firewall so that all the components can communicate properly. More information on configuring firewalls for ArcIMS is given in the technical brief Identifying Firewall TCP Server Ports In a Enterprise ArcIMS Configuration.

  2. If you need to change port 5353, the following property files need to be updated. In each file, search for "5353".
  3. If you need to change port 5050, search for "5050" in Monitor.properties.
  4. If you need to change port 5060, search for "5060" in Tasker.properties.
  5. Restart ArcIMS Monitor and ArcIMS Application Server. If you modified Tasker.properties, you must follow the instructions for restaring Tasker.
  6. If you modified Esrimap_Prop, or esriadmin.properties, you must restart your servlet engine.
