It is often useful to see how certain layers overlay other layers. The Swipe tool in ArcReader allows you to see the layers underneath a particular layer without turning it off in the table of contents. The Swipe tool only works in Data view.
To peel back a layer to see what's under it, click the Swipe button on the Data toolbar. From the drop-down menu, select the layer that you want to temorarily peel back. In this example it is Roads, Trails, and Creeks. This will be the layer that is swiped over the rest of the layers.
A layer can be swiped vertically or horizontally. When you position the Swipe tool over the map, the pointer will turn into an arrow that points in the direction that you can swipe the layer.
Position the pointer at the top of the Angelus Oaks picture. Click and drag the mouse down to the bottom of the data frame. The pointer will change to a double arrow, and the Roads, Trails, and Creeks layer will disappear when the mouse is dragged up, down, left, or right to reveal the Angelus Oaks raster layer beneath.
