You'll add some context information and build a page layout to show your results.
To do so, click the Add Data button on the Standard toolbar. Navigate to the folder where you installed the tutorial data (the default installation path is C:\ArcGIS\ArcTutor\Geostatistics) and click ca_cities. Click Add. The cities in California are added to the map.
The Los Angeles area is one focus of the project. You'll zoom to the Los Angeles point feature and select it.
Click the Find tool. In the Find dialog box click the Features tab. Type "Los Angeles" in the Find text box. Click the In drop-down list and click ca_cities. Click Find.
In the Find results, right-click Los Angeles and click Zoom to. Right-click Los Angeles again and click Select, then close the Find dialog box.
Click the Laout view button. Click the data frame to select it, then click and drag a corner to reduce the size of the data frame. Copy and paste the data frame onto the layout so you have two data frames. Resize the new one and click the Zoom to full extent button.
Click the Add Data button and add the ca_hillshade raster to the new data frame.
You'll make this raster partly transparent. Right-click an empty area beside a toolbar and click Effects. Set the Layer for the effects to be the ca_hillshade raster, then click the Transparency button and drag the slider to make it about 30% transparent.
You can add a legend, north arrow, scale bar, and text to make the map more informative and appealing.
