The exercises in the Linear Referencing tutorial use data distributed with ArcGIS and work with an ArcView license. Some of the exercises require you to make changes to the data, so you will need to have write access to the data. To be sure you have write access, make a working copy of the Linear Referencing tutorial folder.
If the Linear Referencing tutorial data has been installed, it is installed in a folder called LinearReferencing on the drive where the tutorial data is installed, for example, in C:\arcgis\ArcTutor\LinearReferencing.
In this example you see how to copy and paste a folder of data, how to rename the folder, and how to create a folder connection in ArcCatalog, so the folder will be easily accessible.
