Geoportal Clients for ArcGIS Desktop

There are two client tools that can be used with ArcGIS Desktop to connect to the geoportal. They are the CSW Clients and Publish Client, and they ship with the Geoportal extension installation media and are also available for free download from ESRI's Geoportal extension Add-On's website.



A third client - the WMC Client - currently ships with the Geoportal extension, and is also available at the ArcGIS Desktop Extensions - WMC Client website. This client does not connect to the geoportal directly, but was formerly used in conjunction with the map viewing application that shipped with the GIS Portal Toolkit 9.3.

Note: ArcGIS Desktop .NET Framework must be enabled during installation of ArcGIS Desktop on any machine that will be using the ArcGIS Desktop Geoportal extension Clients. The screenshot below shows enabling .Net Framework during installation of ArcGIS Desktop:
