Harvesting and Managing Repositories Overview

Metadata harvesting is a process for collecting new and updated metadata from a wide variety of GIS metadata sources. The Geoportal extension Harvesting Tool is a desktop application used to harvest metadata from other repositories and publish it into your geoportal. The tool is managed by the geoportal Administrator, and can either be run from the desktop tool user interface, or from the Harvesting Service.
